Steel Pallet : A solution for reduction on use of wood |

The use of millions tones of wood was highlighted in my earlier report by local factory of Jabalpur and photographs were posted here. As a solution our active member , Shibajyoti met with related officers of local factory and suggest for reduction on use of wood and save forest. After 3 meetings as a solution , steel pallets were developed for trail run. Steel pallet having following advantages / disadvantages were noticed : 1. Initial Investment is 500% more than wooden pallet. Wooden pallet is available by Rs. 1800 for the Cabin shown here . Steel pallets costing is Rs. 9,000 including painting. 2. For recycling of pallets need to be spent money Rs. 1000/- for transportation for distance 1000 KM . 3. Scraped Wooden pallets are being sold by Rs. 200/-. 4. Saving per trip Rs. 1,800 - Rs. 1000 - Rs 200 = Rs. 600/- 5. Recovery on Investment = Rs. 9000 / Rs 600 = 15 trip. 6. As per estimation , one pallet can be recycled at least for 50 times. After 50 trips, saving will be like this:- wooden pallets :- ( Rs. 1800 - Rs 200 ) x 50 = Rs. 80,000/ Steel pallets :- Rs. 9000 + 50 x Rs. 1000/- = Rs. 59000/- Saving = Rs. 80,000/- - Rs. 59,000/- = Rs. 21,000 + Saving of 4 tones wood. So Steel Pallet is a better solution wherever same types of materials are being transported year after year.

Thank you Smriti Limbu, The idea was not so innovative, it was copied from Internet. But Shiba made it possible with support of his attached justification.

The use of large number of wood was noticed by Shiba during visit our new place by his by-cycle. Collected photographs of the wood dumping area and discussed with local few officers at their houses. One of his new friend of cricket club helped him to get contact of the related officers.
1st. collected solution from Internet, collected costing from local market. Made calculation. Discuss with calculation.
Gave solution with calculation and proved advantages on investment on steel pallets.
This will be a big project for us
