Neighbourhood Recycling Campaign |

Recycling is important in today?s world if we want to leave this planet for our future generations. It is good for the environment, since we are making new products from the old products which are of no use to us. Recycling begins at home. If you are not throwing away any of your old product and instead utilizing it for something new then you are actually recycling. When you think of recycling you should really think about the whole idea reduce, reuse and recycle. We?ve been careless up to this point with the way we?ve treated the Earth and it?s time to change.As July is the time of vacations in the UAE,I thought of initiating a 'Neighbourhood Recycling Campaign' to motivate my neighbours to follow the 3 Rs - REDUCE,REUSE,RECYCLE.I went from door to door in my building,asking my neighbours to hand over anything that can be recycled-from newspapers to cans and plastics.I also explained to them the positive impact that this practice can have on our environment.They were very happy to contribute towards this campaign.I myself had a huge amount newspapers and plastic bottles piled up at home.I am a member of Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) and I submitted all these recyclables to this Agency for the purpose of recycling.I believe that recycling is a simple yet an effect remedy that can heal our planet.I wish to continue this campaign in the future and request all my fellow Eco Warriors to recycle as well. |

Cool! I want to know what responsibility and benefit come along with the EEG membership? Do you have to pay certain amount of fee to maintain the member status and is it a popular group in the UAE? Just curious D thanks for writing!

Wow such an impressive initiative, Harmanjot! To give my opinion, I guess it would be better to promote this event once again after vacation, since a lot of families leave for travel during these season. They will be eager to participate. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!
