WORLD WETLANDS DAY YOUTH PHOTO CONTEST

Wetlands are essential for sustainable livelihoods...

1. TERMS 

To celebrate World Wetlands Day on 2 February 2016 and theme "wetlands are essential for sustainable livelihoods" the Ramsar Convention Secretariat is organizing a Youth Photo Contest open to 15-24 year olds.  All images submitted for the photo contest will be used at the discretion of the Convention in outreach products for the purpose of educating, raising awareness as well as promoting the wise use of wetlands in the regions around the world where Ramsar is active. The Ramsar Convention Secretariat, 28 rue Mauverney in 1196 Gland, Switzerland (the "sponsor") launches the competition on 2 February 2016 until 2 March 2016 12.00 Midnight CET. Information on how to enter and win the prize forms part of these Official Rules. By submitting an entry (as defined below), each photographer (the "Photographer(s)") accepts the Official Rules and warrants that his/her entry complies with all requirements set out hereunder.

2. WHO AND HOW TO SUBMIT

The contest is open to youth (15 to 24 years) and photographs must be uploaded onto the World Wetlands Day Website link :  www.worldwetlandsday.org

3. HOW TO ENTER 

3.1. Each entry consists of:

i. an online Entry Form duly filled and submitted and

ii. one or more photographs (there is limit of three photographs per person)

hereafter the "Entry(ies)".

3.2. To enter the Contest, visit www.worldwetlandsday.org. The Photographer shall complete the Entry Form with the required information, and submit it along with his/her photograph(s) in accordance with the instructions that follow.

3.3. Participation in this Contest is free of charge for the Photographer(s).

3.4. Each Entry must comply with all of the following requirements:

i. The photograph(s) must be taken in a wetland and must relate to wetland use, conservation, wise use, or illustrate how people make a living from wetlands.

ii. The photograph(s) must be in digital format. Only photographs submitted online will be eligible. No print or film submissions will be accepted for entry into this Contest.

iii. All digital files must be in JPEG or JPG format, and with a maximum size of 5MB.

iv. The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the Photographer. By entering the Contest, the Photographer represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted photograph(s) is/are an original work created solely by the Photographer, that the Photographer has all rights over the photograph(s) and that the photograph(s) does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the photograph(s). The photograph must not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of the Sponsor, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.

v. By entering the Contest, the Photographer thereby agrees to abide by the Official Rules and grants the Ramsar Convention Secretariat the right to include the submitted photograph(s) in the Ramsar Photo Database.

3.5. The photograph(s) will be judged in accordance with the Judging Criteria, as defined below. All Entries must be submitted and received by 2 March 2016 at 12.00 Midnight CET

4. JUDGING AND CONTEST PRIZE 

5. JUDGING

The Ramsar Convention Secretariat will set up a panel to judge the photo entries and select the winning photo.

5.1. The criteria for the contest are:

1) Public votes 25% (2) Technical quality 25% (3) Artistic quality 25% (4) Illustration of photo contest theme 25%.

5.2. Decisions of the Judges are final and binding and no challenge or appeal of their decision by any Photographer shall be allowed.

6. WINNER

6.1. Winners' name will be posted on the Ramsar Convention website (www.ramsar.org) and they will be sent a notification informing them that they have won the main prize.
