WORLD CLEANUP DAY |

In celebration of the world cleanup day which was held today (15th day of September 2018), we conducted an environmental sensitization and awareness program in our local community. We talked to various people on the market, streets and homes in order to find out their views on sanitation and health. It was then observed that many felt such is exclusively the responsibility of the Government and that they had no say as far as issues of the environment are concerned. We later talked to them about proper ways of waste disposal and encouraged them to take charge of sanitation and health in their areas of residence. After this was done, we cleaned up a local market and some near by streets. The response we got from volunteers was overwhelming. We look forward to more of such events. This goes to show that we as ambassadors have alot of work at hand. Let us do our best to change people's attitudes towards the environment

@Mentor Joon SWAZ basically looks at how solid waste is disposed off, the kind of toilets people use, how they construct their houses and the attitude the potray towards such. As an association, they seek to sensitize people about the effects of improper disposal of solid waste, encourage people to subscribe to waste collection and recycle as many products as they can.

It would be really good if the government could stand up first to be the front-runner to solve environmental issues but to know that it isn't the reality, such work of yours gets more valuable and precious in terms of bringing up this issue into line!

Hi Bwalya!
A job well done on such a momentous event! It is true that the locals place the major responsibility to the government to deliver a service. Which is what should happen, but if citizens don't see changes in their surrounding then they should rise to the occasion and act to change. I am glad you brought about this change!
