RRC (my self-started club)'s first cleanup event (I'm excited!)

Hi everyone,

I am Aaditya Saha. I live in Chamblee, Georgia.  I recently started a club at my school called Reduce, Remove and Recycle, or RRC for short. The club is an organization that will help the environment with its problems with waste, specifically plastic pollution. Environment pollution is one of the major problems we have been facing globally, and to reduce our necessities is the biggest concern as it accumulates pollution. Starting with the wildlife implications and ending with the greenhouse gases it emits while degrading, plastic waste, in particular, is specifically damaging to the environment. I

Protection of our environment is one of our major responsibilities and a natural way for caring for ourselves and for our future generations.

I started my club on the platform of reducing the amount of plastic waste being used on a day to day basis going into the environment. We have had a couple of meetings, which have gone very well. We are having our first event on Saturday, September 22. We are partnering with the National Park Service to hold a waste cleanup event at our local river, the Chattahoochee. We are also holding a Trail-blazing event to plant trees and prevent soil erosion. This will be to report trail damage and prevent safety hazards. Soil erosion is one of the most important problems that our environment faces, because small erosion at the local level can snowball into massive erosion at the oceans and murky water. I am really excited for our first cleanup event. We are expecting to have 10-15 people show up. In the future, I am hoping to lead many more cleanups, as well as holding awareness campaigns to stop using single-use plastics. One person?s power to create change may be limited, but when you involve the whole community, it makes change much more possible.
