Thematic report- June - A BOOK REVIEW ON "POACHER PANIC"

by Anishka Jha | 17-06-2019 18:56 recommendations 1

Since my childhood I am always drawn towards watching or reading adventurous, thrilling stories. The environment book that had a lasting impact on me as a child is ¡°Poacher Panic¡± by Jan Burchett and Sara Vogler, illustrated by Diane Le Feyer.

The story is about twins brother and sister,  Ben and Zoe. They have different mission but same goal everytime ---save animals in danger and protect the environment irrespective of risk.

Ben and Zoe  feel miserable on being left behind because of school, while their parents head to Mexico for a veterinary adventure. One fine day, Ben gets an envelope and a glass eyeball, it was the size of a small marble with a black dot in the centre and yellow flecks outside it.  There was a printed message with a 11th birthday wish.  While they are still trying to figure out who could have sent the envelope, they get a hologram message from their uncle Stephan Fisher to join WILD- an organization to save endangered animals.

Very soon,  the twins are on their  way to Sumatra  for an adventure  to a village called Arman tempat , Sumatra jungle to rescue a tiger and her two cubs form a gang of  dangerous poachers.

This book focuses on the rescue of a wild tiger in Sumatra and her two cubs that are set to be taken by poachers once the cubs are old enough to leave their mom. Ben and Zoey plan meticulously on their ways to track down the tigers, at the same time unravelling the identities of poachers. They rescue the tigers before the poachers get to them first. Their research also teaches them about the trafficking of wildlife and animals parts. The book is written at an appropriate level for children. It is also the first book in the Wild Rescue series, so there are more books focused on other species and wildlife issues around the world to choose from.

The book is thrilling especially for those who are passionate about animals and the environment, action and hi-tech gadgets.

    Hello Anishka,

Thank you for your time and effort in writing this book review and the title 'Poacher Panic' seems very interesting to me. I read that this is actually an adventure book so I think there may be many ambassadors who will be interested in reading this book. At the same time, in fact poaching is a serious issue these days as it affects the endangered species. It was great to know about this book. Great work!

    Hello Anishka

Thank you for sharing your review on ¡®Poacher Panic??. I guess this book is perfect for those who enjoy reading adventure stories and love animals. In the last month, a number of regional ambassadors have written a report on endangered animals threatened by illegal poachers. Thus, I really would like to see how Ben and Zoe manage to rescue a wild tiger in Sumatra. Keep up the good work!

    Hey Anishka!

I trust this will find you well. This book is quite amazing and I am glad you have shared it with everyone! The issue of poaching is still a global issue where our animals are being tracked, killed and their parts sold. So I am glad that the author of this book put the issue out there in a manner that the youth would read.

Thank you once again for sharing Anishka!
I cannot wait for your future reports )

    With gratitude,
    Rosa
