Feature Free report :Our island: Taiwan's 30-year environmental change record

by Yu Hsuan Huang | 20-06-2019 02:10 recommendations 0

This book is mainly to record the overall environment of Taiwan from 1980 to 2017, and to cut through the different aspects, so that the entire Taiwanese style can be presented in this book. From the chapter boundary of the book, we can know the author of the book at the beginning, which explains why he is engaged in this unpleasant record but has a great influence on Taiwan's ecology, and he is dedicated to the environment. The person who maintains, what kind of joy, indignation, helplessness will be encountered in life, and the future vision of the country that Taiwan should have.

After that, the author focuses on the distribution of various areas in the water and land, so we can see the south bank of the Danshui River estuary, Zengwenxikou, Xiulunyukou Hualien Xikou, Nanbin Park, Chiayi Bagu Haomei, Tainan Gold Coast, Kaohsiung Qijin, screen The ecology of the East Back Bay coast and other places, as well as the environmental changes caused by climate change in the past 37 years.

As for the ecological observations around the industrial area, once nature has added artificial equipment, the existing land is no longer the land that allows various organisms to grow. There are often soil pollution, water pollution, marine pollution, air pollution, and a large amount of accumulated waste. The main recorded pollution incident in the book is based on the EPA's 2010 public census statistics as the beginning of this chapter.

In the case of air malodorous cases, there were 2,603 cases in 1988; 20 years later, in 2009, the number of air pollution cases including odor and food fume was as high as 37,400. Also in early June 2005, the duck eggs from Xixiang, Changhua County, were contaminated by Dioxin. Dioxin, produced by nearby factories, accounts for 58% of the country. In 2012, the heavy metal lead measurement at the Jiquan Bridge station in Wuxi River Basin in Taichung City reached 0.182 mg per liter, indicating that the river was contaminated by lead. We all deeply understand that although the industrial zone can bring local industrial integration, the economic index rises. However, the pollution of the environment is full of air pollution, heavy metal pollution, and river pollution. What happened on these islands in Taiwan was in a book weighing 1.5 kilograms and having thousands of pictures.

The book also includes information on forest ecosystems, wetland ecosystems, and surrounding islands. The forest ecosystem is classified by the species of trees. The materials in the book cover the trees such as Yushan Sabina, Red Pelican, Cypress, Taiwanese fir, and Fern. The wetland ecosystem is shrimp monkeys, lynxes, land crabs, hermit crabs, and shellfish. The last surrounding island information is Green Island, Lanyu, Sanxiantai, Guishan Island, North Island, Wuhu, Xiaoqiuqi, Waimandingzhou, Dongsha Island, Taiping Island, and Uqiuyu. The details of Taiwan¡¯s demeanor have been recorded.

Finally, the expectations of Taiwan's island environment, the author is based on the sustainable development of the book as the basis. Because everyone wants the environment to improve, and before the improvement is the need for constant communication. Then in the process of communication, our environment will begin to change slowly because of one issue after another. Then Taiwan has its own characteristics, that is, biodiversity diversity, a good living environment, and a government institution that is gradually open. Our small step toward environmental maintenance is a major step forward for nature.

    Hello Yu Hsuan ,

Thank you for your time and efforts in writing this report and I learned that this book is mainly to record the overall environment of Taiwan from 1980 to 2017, and to cut through the different aspects, which sound very interesting to me. Although this book may not contain many entertaining factors, I believe it did a good job in providing readers with general overall. I really want to read this book if I have a chance. Great work!

    Hey there Yu Hsaun!

I hope you are well. I noticed that this book places emphasis on census/data that was collected over the years, which is great because this paints a clear picture of how the environment has chnage through the adoption of industry development and settlement growth. You were right in saying that once an industrialist or architectural aspect has been added to the mix, it is difficult to main the natural scenery that was once there.

We have dangered the Earth's health and that of our own..just reading about duck eggs being contaminated by Dioxin is frightening. It shows you the dangers of air pollution. I like how the author sectioned all the spheres of the environment, because I assume it makes reading a whole lot easier.

The need for communication is paramount to us understanding the current situation at hand. Te author made well to emphasis this to his readers, we nee to continue with showing awareness to the countless people who are yet to know of the dangers of climate chnage and global warming.

Thank you so much on reporting on this book...It true spreads a lot of interesting information that people will delight in reading.

I look forward to your next report Yu Hsuan!

    With gratitude,
    Rosa
