(Monthly Report) Zero Waste

by Kushal Naharki | 15-09-2021 13:43 recommendations 0

Large amount of waste are produced by several industries. We individually also produced waste. If we can reduce, resuse and recycle the waste we produce, then we can manage the waste and achieve the goal of zero waste. I have launched campaigns for the management of the waste materials. My campsigns are:

[ 1] The Waste Pocket
Have you ever thrown the chocolate wrappers on street after eating chocolates?
Have you ever thrown wastes from vehicles while traveling?
If you can¡¯t clean up after yourself. There¡¯s no need for you to mess things up and expect another person to clean up behind you. You have a responsibility to keep your homes, surroundings and city clean.
Little things may do wonders. If everyone starts thinking that one wrapper does not make a difference, the whole world will become a garbage bin. Let¡¯s learn to keep the wrappers and wastes in our pockets until we find a dustbin. ¡°Keep it in, till you find a Bin¡±. While it may seem small, the ripple effects of small things is extraordinary. If all of us start doing it, we will at least eliminate the smaller problem. You don¡¯t have to clean it up, if you don¡¯t make it dirty.

[2 ] My Waste My Responsibility

What do you do to the waste you produce?
Don't you think its our responsibility to manage the waste we produce?
I feel that its my responsbility to manage the waste that i produce. Not all waste are indeed waste. Some waste may turnout to be useful if we use them wisely. The environment will be much cleaner if we manage the waste we produce. So, I have launched a new campaign
"My Waste My Responsibility".

During this campaign, we will take the responsibility to maange the waste we produce rather creating a pollution out of it. I will also be sharing the ways to manage the waste on social media, my community, school and among my friend circle. There are many ways we can manage our waste and keep our environement clean.

At first, we need to identify the waste we produce, wether they are decomposable or non decomposable. We must try to reuse and rwcycle the non decomposable waste like plastic bottles, wrappers, ets. There are many ways to recycle these non decomposable waste. There are even organization which collect these waste and turn them into new useful things. Besure to classify the waste when you throw it too. Municipality or waste collector have classified the waste collected into Recycleable and non recycleable so that they can be managed according to their properties. So, we must be able to classify our waste before we manage or dispose them.

The decomposable waste can be turned into compost. There aren't waste but nutrients for soil. Thus prepared compost from waste enriches the quality of soil and good for agricultural practices and we can use them in our home garden.

We mustn't throw the waste where ever we like. We must " Keep It In, Till We Find A Bin".

We must follow the principle of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Waste must be classifed and disposed according to their proprties.

Our small acts of managing the waste we produce and proper disposal of waste we create a better and cleaner planet we desire to live in. Together we can bring a change.
"My waste is my responsibility". Isn't yours?

[3] No Food Waste Campaign

Although large amount of food is wasted, there are large portion of people who are staying empty stomach and large hungry animals roaming on streets . People must be conscious and make best utilization of food without wasting because large amount of money, energy and resources have been invested on the food from farmers in the field, manufacturing company to the people cooking it at home. There's a lot we can do to reduce the food waste that's costing our families, depleting our natural resources, and contributing to climate change.

1.Plan ahead—before meals, especially large meals at the holidays, plan out how much food you and your guests need and stock up accordingly.
2.Donate whatever you can¡¯t use to the people and animals who need this.
3.Store your leftovers safely.
4.Compost your food scraps instead of simply throwing them out.
5. Implementing policy relating to food waste and food security
let's commit to reducing food waste so we can help feed the hungry, fight climate change, and save money. A video was also prepared during this campaign and you can watch it at: https://youtu.be/y8hmluZVvo0

Hello Kushal, this is your mentor Hannah.
Loved your ambassador report on zero waste!
'Waste Pocket', 'My waste my responsibility' and 'No food waste campaign' are all realizable and great ideas.
Although it's gonna be hard to implement 'zero' waste at once, it would be wonderful to keep decreasing individual's waste producing for a long time.
Thank you for your great article and please keep up :)

    Hello Kushal,
    this is your mentor Joon!

I especially like the motto "My Waste My Responsibility" because
that is exactly what I think when I walk down the street on nighttime
and see trashed left behind on public places.
It seems that people are not fully aware of social agreement that
they should clean up their own trash, and take it with them if possible.
I believe it is important to raise such awareness so more people participate
    on the movement.

Thank you for detailed article including nice analogy!

    Best,

    Joon
