Red-spectacled Amazon are parrots who live mostly in south Brazil, being also present in Paraguay and Argentina. Its reproduction is almost restricted to Rio Grande do Sul, a Brazilian state. Unfortunately, the threats to their survival are of difficult resolution: deforestation of the area the bird use to do their nest and catching of its pups to sell. Species counts over the past four decades indicate that the global population has declined by about 36% in three generations (36 years), although it has been apparently stable in recent years.
