Scinax duartei is an endemic Brazilian species, common in the states of Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais. It inhabits lagoons and rills in areas of high altitudes in the Atlantic Rain Forest. The main threat to this frog is the lack of traffic control nearby the only known lagoon used by it for reproduction. If the situation does not change and no regulation applied to the traffic in the areas close to the lagoon, the risk of extinction of Scinax duartei could increase very highly in a short amount of time.
