ISESCO announces that application for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Award for Environmental Management in the Islamic World (KSAAEM) at its current edition (2018-2019) will be launched as from 2 April 2018, and the deadline for acceptance of nominations is set on 31 December 2018. The winners will announced at the 8th Islamic Conference of the Environment Ministers in 2019.

A new fifth category was included in this edition and concerns the ?Islamic Green City Excellence Award?. The Award aims at consolidating the broad concept of environmental management in the Islamic world; encouraging interest in the concept of sustainable development; publicizing the outstanding efforts and successful practices in the field of environmental management and mainstreaming them in Member States for wider benefit. The total value of the Award amounts to US$ 195,000 in addition to shields and certificates. Three winners will be selected for each of the following categories :

First Category : Best research, achievement or practice ;
Second Category : Best practice projects or activities in the public sector ;
Third Category : Best practice projects or activities in the private sector ;
Fourth Category : Best leading practices of public-interest and non-governmental organizations ;
Fifth Category : Best Environmentally-Friendly Islamic City ;
