Are you ready to spread the word?

Excited about social media, networking, and getting creative for a global cause?

Short-lived climate pollutants are responsible for a substantial fraction of current global warming and result in millions of premature deaths and extensive crop losses each year.

Yet despite their dangers and the multiple benefits of reducing their emissions, short-lived climate pollutants are not very well known.

We need your help to communicate these impacts and the many opportunities to address them by reducing short-lived climate pollutants like black carbon, methane and hydrofluorocarbons.

 

 

Time to get creative!

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition is holding an international contest to find the perfect outreach toolkit to get the word out about short-lived climate pollutants – SLCPs – using a range of traditional and new methods. 

The best submissions from each category will be posted on this website and used in a range of Coalition outreach and awareness-raising efforts around the world.

 

Contest categories

  • Best tagline or slogan for the Climate and Clean Air Coalition.
  • Best dd!==!--script--==ion – 'What is a short-lived climate pollutant?'
  • Best social media proposal for messaging on short-lived climate pollutants, the Coalition's work and for breaking news on issues related to SLCPs.
  • Best audio-visual product which communicates SLCP impacts and opportunities to address them.

 

Prizes:
There will be one winner per category and one overall winner of the contest.  The judges may also award commendations at their discretion.

  • 1st Prize
    One entrant – a fully paid trip for the winner and a chaperone to a meeting of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (date and venue to be confirmed later). The winner will also have their concept/s implemented or displayed by the Coalition and receive a photograph by renowned filmmaker, photographer and UNEP Goodwill Ambassador, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, and a certificate.
  • Category winners:
    One entrant per category - a photograph by renowned filmmaker, photographer and UNEP Goodwill Ambassador, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, and a certificate.

 

Judging
The winners will be selected through a fair and impartial selection process by an international judging panel appointed by the Coalition Secretariat.  The winners will be notified by 30 September 2012.

Entry rules and conditions

  1. Anyone aged between 12 and 25 years (as of the closing date of 14 September 2012) may enter. 
  2. Entries may be submitted in any language.  There is a limit of one entry per person per category.

Entries received after the closing date of Friday 14 September 2012 will not be included in the competition.

Note that by entering the contest, you have assigned copyright of your written, graphic or audio-visual concepts to the organizers. By entering you have also agreed that the organizers may use your name in public in relation to your entry in the contest.  Entries will not be returned and will be used to raise environmental awareness through websites, outreach materials, exhibits and so on.
