car-driving and environmental problems

1.exhaust from vehicle is behind enviromental pollution!
While we easily become fascinated by automobile commercials that display cars ferociously ripping through forests as though they were !==!==!==!--object--======s to be venerated for their speed and power, it is essential for us to realize that vehicle emissions are a major source of air pollution that can harm the environment and even threaten human health.
Most vehicles that run on gasoline or diesel are a mobile source of pollution that contaminates the Earth. Especially in urban areas where most cars are found, city dwellers become inevitably exposed to unhealthier living conditions compared to their rural counterparts. Furthermore, pollutants emitted by vehicles have far-reaching negative effects on wildlife as they cause acid rain and smog.

2.what substances are in car exhaust?
What is Car Exhaust?
Car exhaust is the product of burning gasoline or fuel oil and contains harmful pollutants such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen, and sulfur oxides. Carbon monoxide is highly toxic to humans and nitrogen and sulfur oxides contribute to acid rain. This said, it becomes clear why vehicles that utilize gasoline or fuel oil are detrimental to the Earth and why more drivers should be using more environmentally friendly vehicles such as LPG vehicles. Drivers should also be aware that they can drastically reduce car emissions by driving at speed limit while curbing engine idling.

Most cars run on gasoline or light oil. It is better to rely on gasoline than light oil because gasoline is more eco-friendly and releases fewer pollutants.
It that respect, it is good news to see more and more environmentally friendly LPG vehicles are gaining foothold.

3.how much contaminants are emitted while driving?

[Air] Car-driving and environmental problems_03

While vehicles may have made our lives easier and more comfortable, they have not necessarily made our lives better. Rather, they have become one of the primary causes of air pollution that not only hurts the Earth but also our health. The long term effects of gas powered cars are much more serious.
Some may believe that there are many other sources of harmful emissions and that vehicles are only one of those many causes. However, the graph above illustrates that cars emit far more toxic contaminants compared to household heating, power generation, and even factories. It¿s about time that we start using and encouraging others to use mass transportation instead of travelling in private vehicles.

4.drive-in movie and engine idling

[Air] Car-driving and environmental problems_04
Engine idling means keep your car engine running before takeoff. This tendency, which becomes much frequent during cold winter or traffic jam, leads to more than six times the exhaust versus during traveling. So it is no wonder there is an increasing call to put an end to this practice. Engine idling not only results in fuel waste and air pollution but also in fritter-away of more than KRW370 billion every year on the road. Also we have to know watching a movie at drive-in cinema is eco-unfriendly. During two or so hours of show time, hundreds of cars keep their engine on for heating, which translates into more than 3 liters of gasoline being consumed for a 1500cc vehicle and during the course spewing out hazardous substances like carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides.

5.ailment from car exhaust
For several decades, there have been studies linking air pollution with an increased incidence of asthma.
It is revealed ozone, nitrogen oxide, sulfurous aid gas and carbon monoxide in the air we breathe particularly have strong relationship with a high occurrence of respiratory illness.

6.how to minimize environmental degradation?
1.walk near distance. 2. ride a bicycle
3.take means of mass transportation. 4.use small and light vehicle
5.change to gasoline or LPG car from light fuel vehicle. 6.substitute with natural gas bus.

7.minimize engine idling. 8.drive high fuel economy vehicle.
9.keep speed limit. 10. retrain from making sudden start or stop.
11.make your car lighter.(make your car lighter and do carpool) 12.do not fill up your tank full.

THere are many companies that are developing eco-friendly cars that use bio-energy, H2, or pure water that contains salt. I've heard they are called QUANT... THe way this car moves, is interesting. Hope you find out!

Thanks to your information. I think youth like us should practice these ways daily, for example I usually ride my bike to university or to gym, as way to do exercise. It's very good for both us and our environment!!

I strongly encourage everyone to take public vehicles, carpool, walk (if the place is close by), or ride a bike because these things reduce the amount of emissions of greenhouse gases.

  • Rongel Marcil says :
The emissions of these gases affect people also and they contribute to acid rain and this seriously ruins the environment and everything that is near.
