Such industries as renewable energy have become an indispensable part of the current government and government promotion policies. The guidelines that can be known in the news today are all focused on 2030, otherwise it will be within 2050. Get 100% full use of renewable energy.

However, after all, the petrochemical industry began as an industrial revolution, and as a basic industry for industrial development, it has become an indispensable part of the industry under long-term use. How can we make the future enterprises use energy? Instead of using non-renewable energy, use renewable energy? At this time, RE100 will construct relevant indicators.

RE100 is an international initiative jointly promoted by Climate Group and CDP. It is hoped that 100 companies will be entrusted to use 100% renewable energy by 2020, and this goal is reached in 2017, currently in November 2018. 155 companies have participated in the project, such as the top 500 companies such as BMW Motor Group, Citibank, and Japan SONY, and require their supply chain and investment targets. 100% or at least a higher proportion of renewable energy must be used. Moreover, more than 50 countries and hundreds of cities and regions around the world have promised to move toward the 100% renewable energy target in various ways.

RE100 can bring benefits to the local, I think it is a change in industrial structure. At present, companies will publish relevant reports on Corporate Social Responsibility at the end of each year. If the RE100 is promoted to the operation of various enterprises, then enterprises will use the Global Reporting Initiative criteria to evaluate their own business types, which will inevitably be regenerated. When the energy certificate is issued and can be applied by all walks of life, it will also become a point that the company will consider in the future implementation. Even more, the company itself has renewable energy output and attaches importance to the circular economy.

Here we can take Dajiang Biomedical, Ou Laide, and Wanjiaxiang as examples. These three companies are currently related to the RE100 project in Taiwan, and why are these three companies joining? Can be learned from the following information. Dajiang Biomedical joins the RE100 program because the supervisor believes that what a century-old enterprise should leave for the society, and environmental protection is something that Dajiang Biomedical can leave.

As for Olaide, it has contributed to the green business for many years. From product, construction, logistics and transportation to CSR operations, it has reduced carbon emissions by up to 1,427,120kg. It is also hoped that 100% renewable energy will be used by 2025.

Finally, Wan Jiaxiang was developed by Apple to develop a rooftop solar array as the power that Apple needs to purchase. The indicator used is Green-e. Green-e is the largest third-party consumer protection solution in North America. Through Green-e, CRS is able to monitor the renewable energy that is sold to consumers and businesses to meet the highest and most stringent quality standards and to ensure the accuracy and transparency of the sales process.

Finally, the RE100 has long been a worldwide trend. After all, in a deteriorating environment, if more people can use renewable energy, then climate change and the recovery of local industries are bound to be a solution.

    Hello Yu Hsuan Huang,

I've never heard of RE100, and thank you for the detailed explanation about it.
It looks like a very organized way of companies engaging with protection of the environment.

I'm pretty interested by the examples you mentioned. Those companies not only have good technologies to convert to renewable energy, but they also have their own philosophy in management and dedication to the society.

Again, RE100 seems like a very organized guideline for variety of industries in transition to renewable energies.

Thank you for the informative and great report.

I'm looking forward to read your next report.

    Hey Yu Hsuan Huang,
    this is Lisa your mentor!

I'm very glad that someone finally brought up the topic of 'RE100'!!

RE100 allows you to see how the business sector is also engaging in the climate issue. Many of the companies that we know are part of this and they have all made the commitments to put efforts on this issue.
I am wishing to see more contributions of more companies worldwide and hope the number to go up as far as 1000 or even a million!!!

Aside from the content of the article, thank you so much for putting the references! I think when writing something, anything, giving credits to the authors of information that I refer to is critical. Not many people are aware of this but it is a must, not a choice.
Thank you so much for giving a great example.

    Keep up the good work:)
