[Ambassador report] Thematic Report:Technology and Environment

At present, due to the gradual progress of climate change in various countries, in order to reduce the excessive carbon emissions in the past to stabilize the environment, they have begun to promote domestic energy transition policies.

The main requirements of the energy transformation policy are to increase the use of renewable energy and the amount of investment in petrochemical fuels. With the encouragement of enterprises to invest in 100% renewable energy in the production process, the RE100 climate that promotes ESG benefits Agreements are slowly decreasing. Finally, before the climate becomes uncontrollable, people's right to survival is still guaranteed.

However, after all, renewable energy is a relatively new technology compared with existing power systems. Therefore, in the integration of power systems, new technologies will be needed to help introduce renewable energy. The smart grid is a technology related to this. In the field of climate, people often say that they need to open source, urge the public to use more renewable energy, and gradually reduce the space for thermal power generation, but the deployment and throttling of power systems are also very important.

This is the reason why the smart grid in this article will be implemented in the United States, the European Union and South Korea. Because in addition to integrating the micro-grid of renewable energy with the high-voltage power system, the smart grid can also monitor the power usage and calculate the most suitable power usage method to allocate power usage through the power distribution industry. Already. What will happen if there is no smart grid?

If we do not save our own electricity consumption, then even if we use 100% renewable energy and develop large-capacity energy storage devices as mentioned in the first paragraph, there will still be a day of exhaustion. It is not because of the use of renewable energy that people will not face the situation where there is no electricity to use. People still have to change their electricity consumption habits to face the fact that the living environment is gradually getting worse.

After all, in today's power engineering society, without electricity is like losing the core of life, and any tool that is usually everywhere is difficult to use. And what do countries do with this new technology? We will cite examples from the United States, the European Union, and South Korea in the article. The first example is the United States.

In the United States, the concept was proposed by the Electric Power Research Institute in 2001. After that, the US Department of Energy published a Grid 2030 report in 2003. The focus of the report is to use ICT technology in the next generation to improve the efficiency of power system operations and establish new models The grid also presents a national electricity transmission path map. Subsequent items to be implemented were revised by NETL in 2005. After that, related equipment was implemented in each state, and the Energy Independence and Security Act was established to make policy enforcement a legal basis.

The European Union set up ETP SmartGrids in 2005, and then published three proposals for the future European grid concept and strategy, the European future grid strategic research agenda, and the European future grid strategic deployment document, so that the whole of Europe can set up the future national grid development direction.

Finally, in 2009, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy announced the smart grid plan in Korea, aiming to account for 20% of the global market. The schedule is divided into three phases, the first phase takes three years for technical certification, the second phase takes seven years for large regional system construction, and the third phase takes ten years for national smart grid construction. It took a total of 20 years to complete The device is set up.

Smart grid is a big construction that changes people's living habits, and it is also a new industry in the future. I believe that after this policy is implemented, more people will join the power industry and work together for public works, not only for their own lives, but also for the sustainability of the ecosystem.

    Hello Yu Husan

Smart grid is a developed technology that can change the way the energy is generated. There will be much less environmental pollution and at the same time the efficiency from it will increase in big level. However as you mentioned, the most important thing is that people should be aware of their energy consumption habits and take some effort to change it. Only by this cooperation will human society finally achieve sustainable development.

Thank you for the great report.

    Hello Yu Husan!
    It's your mentor Lisa.

This is such a critical topic that we have to discuss when talking about implementing a new technology! I can see that you have done some case studies about different countries on a smart grid. Through your report, we can definitely see that the smart grid plays an important role in this period and especially this period.

Great report dear and thank you always for giving me something worth reading and thinking about!
    Green cheers!
