450 Reactors that threaten the world Uranium produces an enormous amount of energy through nuclear fission. Initially the energy from uranium was used to produce nuclear weapons. Years later technology was developed to harness this energy to generation electricity. Nuclear power plants use from energy produced by uranium to generation electricity. Shall we discuss this together? Accidently, big and small, occured during this period. People cannot live in areas within 1 30km radius of the Chernobyl accident and 1 20km radius of the Fukushima accident. Cases of deformity and disease in humans and animals in the affected areas due to the radiation leak are being reported. Nuclear Power Plants in Operation in the World. The large and small numbers of nuclear power plants in each country is an important problembut also... If there are many nuclear reactors within a nuclear power plant complex, and many people living in nearby regions, the impacts of a potential accident are even more threatening. To make things worse, Earthquake zones are situated in the areas where nuclear power plants are located. Nuclear power plants are currently under construction in China, Russia, India, USA, Korea, France, and etc. However there are countries that state they will abolish nuclear power plants like Germany, Taiwan, Switzerland..
