What is the way to reduce 1.3 billion tons of waste? Everyday, do we eat all of our food without leaving any leftovers? 1.3 billion tons, which is 1/3 of the food produced in the world, becomes food waste. The amount of food waste thrown away in developed countris is similar to the amount of food produced in Africa. 222 million tons of annual amount of food waste of developed countries vs. 230 million tons of annual amount of food produced in African Sahara The bulk of food waste is incinerated. The amount of greenhouse gases emitted amounts to 8.85 million tons. This is equivalent to the greenhouse gases emitted when 1,000 cars cirble the earth approximately 2,000 times. How can we solve the problem of food waste? 95% food waste can be convereted to compost. However, if the levels of moisture and salinity are high, we cannot easily change food waste into compost! How can we solve the problem of food waste? Food waste can also be transformed into energy. 500 tons of food waste per day produces 25,000m3 of biogas.     Agree, there are so much food become waste. I always try not to throw away food that is edible and remind my family members, friends about it. Because we need to remember that we are lucky to have enough food. Also I think in all countries should be food sharing fridges and people should begin sort their tresh, then it will be easier to recycle.
