In a classroom: We listen in on a discussion between the teacher and five students. Lohas (LOHAS: Lifestyles Of Health And Sustainability) Consumers are people who are concerned about their health and the environment. LOHAS Consumers purchase products that are friendly to the environment, and live lifestyles that protect their health and the environment for the future generations.
Carefully consider whether the product is really necessary before purchase. We buy and store much more food items and materials than we actually need, just like how we browse and find things to watch on tv rather than watching what we just want in the first place. | | | | Don't buy products that harm the environment. Some products cause more harm to our air and our water than others. Also remember that when we throw things away, they often become harmful trash that hurts the environment.

Recycled products do not produce trash. Instead, they get rid of trash in a productive way. | Buy products with the Green Seal. Products with the Green Seal are made to be environmentally friendly and is designed to produce less pollution. | | The "Green Seal" is give to products that are environmentally friendly from material selection, manufacturing to disposal. These products also benefit our health.

Only buy foods and items that are necessary. Over-buying and impulse buying leads to creation of more trash. Enormous amount of trash that we produce is making our earth diseased and sick.
Avoid using disposable products. Disposable products look clean and convenient. These disposable products, however, are made from chemicals and materials that are also toxic and poisonous. You wouldn't think the PET plastic that is used to bottle mineral waters are harmful, but they are very dangerous products that produce carcinogenic, or cancer-causing, substances as time passes.
Try to avoid fast foods and junk foods. Fast foods and junk foods are often deep fried with artificial taste and color. These will eventually cause chemical reactions that create skin problems or diseases in your body.
Recycle, and use recycled products. Using a glass cup instead of disposable paper or plastic cups in our homes is very simple. There are also many recycled products we can use such as recycled toilet paper and recycled notebooks. Smart choices like these greatly benefit the environment.
Get out and play with your friends rather than playing computer games during your spare time. Your spare time should be used to rest and relax, not stress out your hands and your head. Spending all day sitting down and snacking is isn't any good for your health.
Think again before you throw that old junk in the trash, someone may want to trade it with you for something you want. This idea is the foundation for flea markets everywhere today. The flea markets were started from the ideas of young and bright youths like you. Let's become a LOHAS youth that isn't afraid to act and protect the environment.
