How to Go Green Today

Becoming a better humanitarian not only helps you to grow yourself but also helps you to spread light and positivity to those around you. There are many different things you can do on a daily basis to become a better humanitarian. Below are just a few of the most simple things you can do.

Shop Ethically

One of the biggest things you can do on a daily basis to help be a better humanitarian is to shop ethically. Being an ethical shopper often means you only purchase items and products that have been made through fair trade and are cruelty free. It also typically means shopping for organic products as well as reusable and renewable products. Purchasing cars which can be pollutants as well as jewelry such as diamonds which can have a harmful effect on the environment are also frowned upon by ethical shoppers. Instead they typically opt for mass transportation and instead buy lab created diamonds

Recycle

Although in these modern times many more people are aware of the benefits of recycling there is still a large amount of homes and individuals that do not recycle on a daily basis. Many things nowadays are recyclable including plastic bottles, cans, cardboard, glass and many other products. Not only is it a great idea to keep a recycling bin in your home it also may even be better to avoid buying as many of those products as you can. Instead of buying plastic water bottles buy one reusable water bottle and refill it at home. Another good tip is to try to buy items in bulk or economy sizes. Not only does this cut down on plastic waste but it can also help save you money in the long run. For more information on what products to avoid buying to reduce waste visit here.

Reusable Shopping Bags

Not many people are aware of the effects that plastic shopping bags can have on the environment. Not only do they often cause clogs on waterways but they can also spoil the dirt and land that we use to grow our fruits and vegetables and that wildlife animals use to graze on. Plastic bags take hundreds and hundreds of years to break down according to research causing them to fill up landfills and even oceans. Instead of using plastic bags while shopping buy a few reusable tote bags that can often be found for as low as a dollar nowadays. Some stores even offer a small incentive for using recyclable bags.

Take Mass Transportation When Possible

There are millions of cars on the road now a days. Not only does this cause more hassle and accidents but it is also more harmful to the environment as cars are full of chemicals and pollutants. Taking mass transit when possible not only helps to avoid more car pollution but it can also save time and money. This is especially true when traveling to a major event such as a baseball game or concert. Mass transit is especially great if you live in a larger city such as New York or even Los Angeles where traffic can often be backed up.

Go Paperless

Just imagine the amount of paper waste reduction there would be in the world if everybody went paperless for bills and other things. Not only would mailboxes be less filled with scam junk mail but there would be more trees available which allows for a fresher healthier environment. Nowadays there are many sites that allow you to remove your name from mailing lists. This can help to have a great impact on the environment over time.

Reduce Waste

Reducing waste is a very important factor in helping to better the environment. Reducing waste while eating is especially important. It is best to only buy the exact amount of food as needed. It is also a good idea to learn about expiration dates as many people throw out items before they even expire due to lack of knowledge on expiration dates. Learn more about what expiration dates on food actually means here

Overall from recycling to reducing waste there are many different things each and every individual can do on a daily basis to become a better humanitarian. Not only does it lead to better overall quality of life but it can also make you feel good about yourself to do something good for the environment.
