Dear Beloved Ambassadors, Members, and Visitors: Happy Early International Day for Biodiversity! As all of you may know, May 22nd is the International Day for Biological Diversity.
According to the United Nations, this year¡¯s theme is ¡°Our Biodiversity, Our Food, Our Health.¡±
Even though the availability of food has increased, the types of food that we consume have become very homogenized over the years.
In fact, did you know that over the past 100 years, 90% of crop variety have disappeared, in addition to 50% of domestic animal breeds, and all of the world¡¯s 17 biggest fishing grounds have been exploited?
The loss of diversity can lead to health related factors such as diabetes, malnutrition, and obesity – not to mention loss of traditional medicines.
Therefore, we wanted to celebrate this year¡¯s International Day for Biological Diversity with aims to focus on changing and improving the health of human beings. (Yes, this includes us!)
This can be your chance to become Eco-Generation¡¯s Guest Editor once again and be featured on our article of 2019 edition of ¡°Let¡¯s Protect Our Health Through Biodiversity¡± which will be sent to all our Tunza Eco-Generation members!
