Recommendation for Upcoming Facilitator
Bindu Bhandari, Nepal 2015 GYELS Facilitator
Tenacious memories of GYELS 2015 mesmerize me even today and will forever. Being selected as the first facilitator for GYELS 2015 was full of excitement and challenges for me. Working in close with the organizing committee for designing Model United Nations (MUN) and making the dynamic youths selected from around the world understand the procedure/rules and guiding them for research was a way to learn a lot for myself as well. As a facilitator you actually bridge the gap between organizers and participants for better communication and coordination. Then in no time, meeting each other in person whom you had been communicating since long only virtually is exhilarating. 5 days in Seoul passes in the blink of eye, yeah time flies soon. Lectures from eminent scholars on various environmental topics, entering the world of diplomacy in MUN and then fun filled excursions to wonderful places every event synergizes your enthusiasm and passion. In a wholesome, GYELS is a rare once in a life time opportunity and as a facilitator one can boost their leadership, effective communication skills and broaden their horizon of knowledge in pressing environmental issues. Multicultural networking with cordial organizers you had ever known and energetic emerging leaders you would ever meet was the best part of being a facilitator which establishes a bond before, during and even after the summit for the lifetime. Last but not the least, I gladly wish all the best to all the applicants for facilitator's position. I did my best for accomplishing my role and I believe you would do better than the best. Concluding concisely and precisely, being selected as a facilitator would be living the dreams with open eyes.
