[Seoul, Korea] January 22nd, 2014 - Samsung Engineering's CSR program, Eco-generation, in cooperation with Centre for Environment Education (CEE) of India has launched a series of 'Eco-generation School Kit,' a comprehensive teaching tool for environmental education.

The 'Eco-generation School Kit' is designed as a supporting teaching material for conducting a hands-on interactive session for school teachers and anyone who is interested in engaging with children and youth, for a 60-minute session  on environmental issues.. This set of materials are focused on four major environmental topics: 'Understanding Energy,' 'Understanding Water,' 'Understanding Land,' and 'Understanding Climate Change. The four kits are available online for free and can be downloaded in PDF format at Samsung Engineering's Tunza Eco-generation website (https://tunza.eco-generation.org) and CEE's websites (www.ceeindia.org www.sayen.org and www.paryavaranmitra.org).

Each kit includes the Program Plan, Volunteers'Handbook, Slides presentation with slide notes, Fact Sheets for Teachers and Handouts for Students and, lastly, Feedback forms for Teachers and Students. The kits are developed for active learning sessions that would help to build critical thinking and problem solving skills of students, so that they can take positive actions towards the sustainable and eco-friendly development.

Since 2003, Eco-generation has produced teaching materials in Korean for Eco-generation School volunteers, who are the employees of Samsung Engineering and have been putting efforts to raise environmental awareness of children and youth.

Samsung Engineering's Executive Vice President Minos Han commented: 'We are thrilled to provide useful resources to environmental educators worldwide. Along with the Eco-generation School launch in China this year, the 'Eco-generation School Kit' will be used to educate the volunteers and teachers.'

CEE's Program Director, Madhavi Joshi, who looks after DESD, Youth Programmes, Waste Management programmes at CEE, says: 'We look forward to create three more modules in the series of the 'Eco-generation School Kit' this year and improve its quality according to teachers' and students' feedback.'
