Introduction: I hardly remember the last time I saw lush greenery. That bright Emerald hue, its lost now. Our connection with nature has faded beneath layers of smoke, noise and neglect. Through my poem: Grey Filter, I reflect upon that loss. Read this as the yearning of a wanderer searching for a home that no longer breathes the same way. It¡¯s a lament, but also a reminder: beauty cannot survive behind the filters we¡¯ve placed between ourselves and the Earth. Poem: Grey Filter And I embarked on and endless search, For cradles that embraced wild hearts like mine, But this time the birds didn't guide me, This time the leaves didn't rejoice with me. For places where these cradles lay, Stood corrupted with hints of grey. Where golden sunlight filtered through leafy trees, Now there lay lifeless soil. Lifeless soil crowned with lifeless green, It wasn't the embrace that once cradled me. And in the green that wasn't alive, Beyond the sinister grey of lust and dust, I continued my search for places, The noise of the world forgot to fill. So, if years from now you were to see, A wanderer lost in concrete maze And hear her wailing for home, Know that it is me. Conclusion: Let's no longer see nature through smoke and dust. Just get up one day to return to the scent of real soil and the warmth of sunlight that once touched our faces unfiltered. When you find it nowhere, work to remove the Grey Filter that humankind has created. Just get up before every green turns into grey.
