![]() Wind turbines have long produced renewable energy. I?m fascinated by two technologies that can manufacture drinking water from humid air: Modified Wind Turbine by Eole Water and Water Seer turbine by VICI labs. These two low-tech technologies are affordable and are capable of turning humid air into drinking water without any power or chemicals via condensation. I will write about the Waterseer turbine since it?s my point of interest. Waterseer is planted six feet into the ground, and its water chamber will be cooled by the surrounding soil. Meanwhile, as the wind flows, the turbine will spin which will, in turn result to the spinning of the device?s internal blades. The warmer air entering the chamber condenses, creating pure clean water that can be extracted through a hose pump. VIDEO SHOWING MODE OF OPERATION (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mchIdbLCjsY) ''The waterseer condensation chamber bellow the ground is inserted in a sleeve so it is easily removable for inspection and cleaning. Field tests showed the water collected to be virtually free of particles over one week period and cleaner than rain water in terms of pollutants and pathogens, ''wrote Waterseer There is however some criticism on how; -the device can keep the water clear of bugs and bird droppings; -programs are not efficient and scalable; -the technology is not able to produce water in case there is no wind or air is very dry like in deserts. I hope all these challenges are addressed and worked on in order to improve the efficiency of these technologies. References; https://edition.cnn.com/2012/04/29/world/eole-water-turbine/index.html |
