![]() Currently, it is undeniable that the climate change is a very pertinent issue in our lifetime, if not one of the most critical. It is also undeniable that many of us, especially on the Tunza networking platform, are eager to take awareness. But how do we do it? Many opportunities are available for youth, one of them being the Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest with their annual theme being ?Our Oceans in a Changing Climate.? With their mission statement emphasizing the role between humans and nature and that our health is dependent on it, the contest makes the point that social, economic, political, and cultural factors must be taken into account for. They also bring up the point that creative is one of the most important means to tackle this. Thus they are opening all submissions of visual art, poetry, prose, film, and music to students all over the world ages 11-18. Awards can amount to a maximum of 1500 US dollars with a lot of smaller awards available as well. Sample prompt questions can include: How do human systems affect the ocean? How do oceans affect life on land? How are ocean health and human health connected? What responsibilities do humans have to the natural world and its inhabitants? What will the planet look like in 2100 if we continue with ?business as usual?? How do oceans play a role in mitigating climate change? Who is responsible for climate change?
