Project Pitch A-Z Sustainability

by Adam Zhou | 17-02-2018 10:30

A-Z Sustainability is a school wide initiative we plan to enforce so that the resources we use for everyday classroom activities will be minimized. After conducting interviews with faculty in different departments, we have come to conclusions on which issues are most pertinent. This is where we have come to currently, and in the future, we plan to have short tips and memos on a board which will be placed in all rooms around the school.

One of the areas we want to improve in our school, is unsustainable printing behaviours. To better these current habits, we propose:
The instigation of teachers sending files that need to be printed, ahead of time to the printing center to be printed as opposed from teachers printing these files within their classrooms. Classroom printers use more resources and many are unable to print double sided. These problems can be avoided in the printing center, and will thereby save the amount of materials used in the long run.
Teachers can access the online printing form on an email.
The amount of forms sent by teachers to the printing center will be tracked by the printing center, to give us ideas of how we can improve this proposal in the ?A-Z Sustainability Guide? as well as push forth better printing habits that will save more resources and decrease the amount of waste created by our school.

Recycling Stands

Multiple Bins for the corresponding materials
White Paper
Colored Paper
Plastic
Bottles

Marker Usage
To prevent further environmental implications from the usage of markers, we propose the following solution:
A Teacher Aid/Guide Person can collect and refill empty whiteboard markers by going around classrooms every week (teachers can have a designated basket for used markers to increase efficiency)
