![]() Overview Alabang Elementary School, located in Barangay Alabang, Muntinlupa City, is a primary school that teaches children from Grades 1-6. After initial planning, documentation, and research since our last visit, we conducted several lessons and activities as a joint venture between the UNESCO clubs of Earth SAVERS for UNESCO and the Youth Association for Research Management. The discussions and facilitation conducted since the last trip led to collaboration with the school on this service trip. Collaborative Science Lesson with Grade 5 Students The organizations upheld its core values of a sustainable usage of resources through monitoring all materials used throughout the progression of procedures. In the case of the trip to Alabang Elementary, where an egg drop experiment took place, all materials allocated towards the children were checked beforehand by officers of the Youth Association for Resource Management, ensuring that the supplies were either of reusable quality, or in the process of being reused. This comes to show how the balance between exemplary education and sustainability can be obtained with an experiment as simple as an egg drop. We were also emphasizing on the science behind the experiment, and how the laws of physics can help aid or hinder the success of the flight. These fundamental principles are key factors to lead into passions behind fields such as environmental engineering or other affiliated with sustainable development. We hope to tackle these focuses in future service trips.
