Ambassador Report: Engineering (Space X's Successful Launch)

Perhaps one of the biggest highlights on the field of engineering this month is that of SpaceX?s successful launch of its first Falcon-Heavy Booster – its largest and most successful rocket yet.


In alignment with Space X?s mission of excellence, this rocket can carry twice as much payload, or weight, as other traditional rockets, and travel several times the distance of previous rockets without needing to refuel. Even more, this rocket is also confirmed to have the strongest booster ever created meaning that its speed suprasses any other in its field.


Implications on the Environment:  How does this relate to us?


More than being an engineering success, this feat by Space X also means that explorations and missions in space would now be more sustainable.


Sustainable how? This is because the vast majority of the components in Space X?s Falcon Heavy Booster rocket can be reused thanks to the successful landing technology developed by the company. This means that less metals, and materials would be needed in launching rocket – proving to be beneficial to the environment.


Implications on Space: how it betters our atmosphere?


Not known to many of us, a certain kind of pollution – space pollution – is also growing with the ongoing trend of increased space explorations.


Space pollution? Yes, this type of pollution occurs when materials from satellites and/or rocket vessels fly off in space and orbit our planet. This is harmful because these tiny metal scraps and objects travel at fast rates in our planets? orbit nad have the potential to damage other satellites within our planet?s orbit.


Space X?s technology solves this because instead of being trashed in space, materials from rockets can now be successfully reused and recycled as they land successfully in earth. Hence, space pollution is effectively mitigated.



At the end of the day, the celebration of Space X?s success with its revolutionary rocket technologies is more than just a celebration in engineering and technology, but more importantly, it also the celebration of a greener and more sustainable atmosphere, environment and planet.
