Hello everyone!
As you might have known, we are slowly starting a chapter of Students For The Earth at my college. To start off we are doing a project called "12 hours of change". We aim to make students spend a time in volunteering. Read through the details of the project. - Let me know if you are interested to start a chapter in your school or college. Will send details. Contact me by messaging below. :)
- Name of Project:
12 Hours Of Change
- What is The Project about?
To spend at least 12 hours of volunteering during free time (after classes in the evening or during Sunday/ 2nd Saturday/ Holidays) in a year (12 months).
- What sort of volunteering can be done?
- Charity/Humanitarian
- Environment
- Volunteering at Public Non-Profit Events/Festivals/Competitions, etc
- How can a student volunteer?
There will be different ways : - Self volunteering:- Sfe. will contact different institutions, etc where volunteering is possible and partner with them for this project, eg, palliative care, orphanages, etc. Students can go during their free time as per convenience to these places individually or as a group.
- Organized programmes:- Occasionally, as possible, Sfe. will organize volunteering programmes to different places or at other events, etc. Students interested can go at the venue at that time and take part in volunteering.
- Volunteering in any other place other than locations which Sfe. has partnered with :- will be approved only with necessary proof like photos, and sign/stamp on attendance sheet.
Will tabulating for 12 hrs project, if the person has only volunteered totally for 12 hours all together calculating Sfe. and other places, then only maximum 3hrs volunteering from other places will be calculated. Remaining 9 hrs must be from Sfe. related activities. If person has already crossed 12 hrs volunteering in Sfe. , then volunteering hours from other place in the course of that year can be added to the total number of hours without any restriction (provided proof is valid).
- What are the benefits to the students?
- Increased leadership, experience and decision making opportunities.
- An Opportunity to interact with other students, elders, people in need, volunteers, etc.
- To make free time useful.
- By volunteering, actually, we are the ones who get the maximum benefit out of it, rather than the people who we volunteer for, because the happiness and satisfaction we get is unexplainable. We aren't doing it as a social service, instead we are doing it for ourselves. :D
- On completion of 12 hours, the student will receive a special e-certificate commending him/her for the achievement. Students who have completed more than 12 hours will also be specially commended and the one with the most number of hours will be awarded globally.
- How will the volunteering be tabulated?
- All students registering in the program will be given a table which they can print or draw themselves on a paper. It will have columns for date, location, type of volunteering, no of hours/time volunteered, name of official who supervised, signature of official/stamp, etc. This should be filled whenever a student goes for an event.
- The student should send a photo of the entry to the table along with a selfie/photo at the venue on that day itself to a provided email id.
- At the end of the year when we ask for tabulation, the students should come with the sheet with all signatures and we will recheck them with the emails sent before and if found correct, he/she will be awarded.
- If possible, a register can be kept at partnering institutions for students to sign when they come for volunteering.
