![]() Hi everyone. Just wanted to share with you all a wonderful tool I found online. I know how we are all environmentally passionate here, and want to do everything we can to do something good for the Earth in some way. What if I told you that you can plant trees just by sitting at your computer and doing your normal Internet activities? Just a week ago, I found out about Ecosia. (Ecosia.org) Ecosia is a search engine that plants trees in different areas around the world, using funds used from advertisement revenue that it generates when people use their search engine. When one uses their search engine, it takes about only 1.7 seconds to plant one tree. Ever since they started their projects, over 20 million different trees have been planted using their ad revenue. In terms of performance, based on my usage and experience with other search engines, it is as fast (and sometimes even faster) than traditional search engines such as Bing. It is slightly slower than Google, but produces nearly the same search results. It?s search interface is quite neat, and their ad placement is even cleaner than some sites like Yahoo. In 1 week of usage, I?ve planted 166 trees, according to their own device monitor. Recently, I?ve also downloaded the Ecosia browser on my smartphone to further their cause. I?ve never thought doing a significant positive impact on the Earth could be so easy and fitting into my everyday life. So I hope you guys try it out! You won?t notice any difference in your Internet experience but you?ll get to do good for our beloved planet! Website: https://info.ecosia.org/about |
