City Festival in Uganda(Month of October0

by Gadala Isaac | 10-11-2017 20:14

For the sixth year, Uganda held their biggest street party which is also East Africa?s biggest, the Kampala City Carnival from 6-8th October 2017. To Ugandans, a festival is not a festival without food(popular national foods and snacks), float parades, music and dance coupled with intoxication, fashion shows, with many impulsively wanting to put into action everything that they learn, cultural exhibitions (traditional songs ,dances and artifacts )and innovation/technology exhibitions  in the middle of the capital, Kampala.

Not only did this year?s festival focus on peoples points of interest but also on climate change as an additional element which I found as a good way to sensitize the public about the global challenge.

The Kampala Capital City Authority(KCCA) in a statement said that they were proud to be piloting an integrated process to engage all stake holders in climate change(the private sector, civil society and public service providers). By raising awareness and discussing the key issues involved, they would be able to find solutions and create new opportunities for business and social enterprise. They also said, ??we invite you to partner with us to move this forward so we are able to present our model at the COP21 Global Summit taking place in Paris this December.??
