We live in a era where the use of smart technologies as a means of mitigating the effects of climate change and restoring a depreciating planet is most needed. Smart technologies are technologies that uses less materials, produces less pollution and are sustainable. Some of these technologies include; anaerobic digestion (the biological decomposition of biodegradable material by anaerobic microorganisms in the absence of oxygen to produce bio-gas and fertilizer), solar technologies, rainwater harvesting, composting etc.  Mostly of these technologies provide us with typically means of Preventing waste, disposing and  recovering energy. 

With the recent increase in the prices of most household necessity such as cooking gas,fossil fuels products, reliable sources of electricity in Cameroon, many of it citizens are making a turn to less costly and more sustainable way to manage their homes. One of the most common adaptation is the construction/ renovation of eco buildings which mean components include; a biogas digester, solar system, aerobic digesters.

With all the benefits the comes with using smart technologies, the country still face the challenges of having very few expertisers in these fields. Eventhough in a long-term, they are cost effective, the costs associated with with installation is a great barrier for many interested in these technologies.
