[May Theme Report] Green Architecture is the way to the future!

by Baekjin Kim | 21-05-2023 07:06

As the world entered the 21st century, numerous urban technologies have been developed to be environmentally beneficial and to preserve our distinctive environment ultimately. One of the most significant developed technology is green architecture. Over the decades, countless urban cities and business districts of the towns have adopted the green architecture model. Over the roofs of the buildings, there are several gardens, and grasslands as well. As architectural designs develop, they have been added indoors, including shopping malls, or even parking lots.

One of the most significant examples would be the buildings containing gardens, and green rooftops. Although there are spaces such as greenbelts that are undeveloped, people developed other areas and decided to include areas that are sustainable for every species. Moreover, some of the buildings are covered with green walls, that symbolize the environment, and just like the trees, the buildings became the trees of the cities.

According to Sustainable Business, the United States had the most LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certified buildings, as they had 44,420 certified projects. Additionally, other countries such as China, UAE, Brazil, and the Republic of Korea had listed their names in the rankings. However, these countries were mostly developed countries, whereas the developing countries did not get listed.

One of the solutions to increasing green architecture could be enforcing the laws. For instance, the UN, or the national governments of countries, can create laws to include at least one garden or other elements that are sustainable for the future world. Another solution could be influencing green architecture in other countries that do not have many. This can ultimately increase the rate of sustainable development, as it can create a green world or even our own-created forests.
