![]() Neutrality in Land Degradation (NDT) is a program to increase natural land capital. Launched in March 2016, this program has evolved with the support of the global mechanism. The document proposed by the consultants is submitted to some 60 actors of the field for validation this August 03, 2017 in Lomé. Mr. Sama Boundjow (Secretary General of MERF) presided over this ceremony as a representative of the Minister. To reduce the decline in agricultural productivity from years to years, it is necessary to define neutrality targets for land degradation. The zones identified as the most degraded in Togo are the northern zone, zone northeast of the Atakora Range, the coastal zone and the western zone of the plateaux region. The total area actually degraded is 2349 km?, ie 234900 ha and represents 4.14% each year according to statistics. According to the Consultant ADJONOU Kossi, the concept of land neutrality is governed by three principles: reduction of land degradation, restoration of land already degraded by forest cover and avoidance of others. Targets and measures that have been validated will become guidelines for all actors involved in the fight against land degradation over the next 12 years. Thank you |
