My trip to Germany and how their way to live positively shocked me

by | 21-07-2017 06:11

I currently find myself on a school trip (which is why I?m writing a little late) to Germany and I?ve been astounded several times by the measures the country has taken to ensure a green living. On the following article are some of my impressions.

There are wind turbines everywhere and by everywhere I mean it. On the hills, by the sea, just outside towns and cities. Some turbines were relatively small, others bigger.Comparing it to my home country Argentina, I was very surprised to see so many turbines.

Secondly, the whole city of Freiburg.
Firstly,  the transport and the massive use of bicycles. A guide told use that there was a circulation of around 80.000 bikes a day. Secondly, the movement in the past to avoid a nuclear central on the outskirts of the city.Thumbs up to you people of Freiburg. Thirdly, the "heliotrop" (helios  greek for sun, trop Greek for turning) building with its solar panel and its tuning to aim towards the sun, which imitates a sunflower and is completely independent from other sources of energy.

Thirdly, the whole recycling scheme with plastic, paper and clothes. In shops like H&M there are bins where you can put old clothing, in supermarkets machines that take water bottles and in different homes trash is separated and each category of trash is taken out on a different day.

All these things really shocked me and the level of organization in Germany was really mind-blowing to experience. The rest of the world should take a long look and follow this prime example of things we can do.
