Snake-bites are well-known medical emergencies in many parts of the world, especially in rural areas. Agricultural workers and children are the most affected. It results in the death or chronic disability of many active younger people, especially those involved in farming and plantation work. The incidence of snake-bite mortality is particularly high in South-East Asia.

After attending the 19 days effective 'Wildlife Research Techniques Training' organized by FON-Nepal, I have successfully organized "Snake Bite Awareness Program" on May, 2017 in a community of Bharatpur, Chitwan to minimize the snake bite rate and make people aware about snake bite management. The program was done for community people who are unknown about its preventive measures. This program aimed to provide sufficient practical information to know about snake bite management.

I have performed various activities during the entire event like how can snake-bites be avoided and identified. I have also described about the venomous Snakes of Nepal, their classification and ideas to identify venomous and non-venomous snakes. The people were curious to learn.

The program is believed to have acted as a strong tool for gaining knowledge to the community people about snake bite. From this program, people are known about identification of snakes, signs and symptoms of snake bite and its management and first aid etc. People have known that snakes are important for this ecosystem and people are more empowered about conservation than before.

I think, this kind of awareness programs should be done in every community to reduce the rate of snake bite.
