Argentinas take on the Paris Agreement

by | 21-06-2017 02:58

Argentina like most of the countries in the world has signed the Paris Agreement when it was drafted many years ago. In 2016, the Argentinian Congress voted in favour of the endorsement of the Paris Treaty.

After Donald Trump became president of the US and left the Paris Treaty, Argentinian  Minister of environment and development Sergio Bergman expressed that Argentina will not change its posture and will keep on implementing measures to fulfill the agreement.

But what are the goals of Paris Agreement? It?s main goal was to reduce the carbon emissions starting 2020. They search to reduce the temperature increase and limit it to 1,5 degrees Celsius. Each country that signs the agreement is responsible to lowering their own carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases emissions. Those with bigger industries are those that will have to make a bigger contribution as they are the countries which contaminate more regarding carbon emissions. Among these are China and the US, which has recently left the agreement under the presidency of Donald Trump.
