United Arab Emirates is a benevolent country & The Holy Month of Ramadan teaches us acceptance, altruism and perseverance. In this month, Muslims all over the world observe a fast from Dawn to Dusk. In summer months it?s? quite tough & challenging. Breaking the fast at dusk is called Iftar and through my humble initiative ?Serve The Heroes? I make it a point to serve an Iftar meal to 250-350 workers every year.

This year and on the 9th June, these values were put into effect as we went on to serve an Iftar meal to the 350 workers inhabiting Bee?ah? s Abdullah Labor Camp in Al Sajja, Sharjah, in accordance with the vision of the ?Year of Giving 2017?.

The event started off with all the volunteers bringing in their items for contribution and setting them up for distribution in an organised manner. The Bee?ah Environmental Workers, who are always on their toes around the clock, were served with Biriyani, Yogurt Cups, Mangoes, Puffs, Biscuits, Juices and Dates by over 60 student volunteers and their parents.

Each year we make it a point add a green touch to the distribution. We avoid plastic bags & use paper bags for distributing the items. Moreover all cartons & paper packing is given away for recycling.

Each worker was given their items in paper bags, which were made by the volunteers themselves in a creative manner. This was done to ensure that the distribution was absolutely Plastic Free, in line with the never-dying ideal of the recently passed World Environment Day.

The workers work tirelessly, even when they are fasting for 15 hours. So, when a child, as young as four, comes and serves them a box of dates and a refreshing juice, they feel absolutely enthralled. We express our gratitude to all the volunteers and contributors who have embraced the spirit of service during this month, and we hope that they shall continue their drive for volunteering, even after Ramadan has passed.

We would like to thank Bee?ah, Sharjah?s leading environmental company for providing us with such an opportunity to appreciate and give back to the well-mannered staff, who filed in line in a disciplined manner to collect their Iftar meals.

This is the 5^th consecutive year that ?Serve the Heroes? has been associated with Bee?ah, serving an Iftar meal during the Holy Month of Ramadan to its hardworking staff.

I would like to encourage all readers to sincerely take up the cause of helping anyone in need during Ramadan, as during this time, all good deeds are magnified in their righteousness, and it cannot be said enough, ?You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give?.
