Water pollution

by | 01-05-2017 00:27

The advancement in technology makes life easier for human kind. However, it also creates a negative impact on the environment, such as pollution. Today we will be talking about water pollution. Here in Indonesia, many water bodies have been contaminated by pollutants and it creates a negative impact on the environment. It affects the marine life negatively as they will die due to the poor level of oxygen in the polluted waters, there is also a decrease in soil quality which affects crop growth.

Prevention of water pollution:

  • Decreasing the use of detergents
  • decreasing the use of pesticides [decreases the increase in algal bloom which would cause marine animals to die due to lack of oxygen[
  • the decrease in use of vehicles and instead use public transport or carpool
  • decrease in use of plastics
  • decrease in use of medicines that contains chemicals as the toxic wastes that are poured into the water bodies would contaminate the waters
  • use alternative sources of energy
  • planting trees near the sources of water
  • reduce, reuse, recycle household wastes
  • use water wisely

We must start in within ourselves to make a change. We can start by using water wisely and turning the tap off when not in use. We can also collect rain water to use for watering plants. Start small to make a big difference. Others will then follow.
