Air pollution is a critical issue facing our planet today, and Manila is no exception. The city has experienced rapid urbanization in recent years, resulting in increased levels of air pollution. The most significant sources of air pollution in Manila are vehicle emissions, industrial activities, and open burning of waste.
The World Health Organization has ranked Manila as having some of the worst air pollution levels in Southeast Asia, with high levels of particulate matter and sulfur dioxide. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the country's air quality index (AQI) has been steadily increasing since the 1990s.

To mitigate air pollution in Manila, various measures have been implemented, including stricter emission standards for vehicles, the promotion of alternative modes of transportation, and the adoption of cleaner production methods in industries. Air capture is a technology that aims to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere. There are various methods of air capture, including direct air capture (DAC), which involves capturing carbon dioxide from the air using chemical reactions, and bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), which involves capturing carbon dioxide emissions from power plants and storing them underground. While air capture is still in its early stages of development, it has the potential to play a significant role in mitigating climate change.

Air pollution is a major concern in Manila, posing a significant threat to public health and the environment. To alleviate air pollution, various efforts have been implemented, including stricter emission standards and the promotion of cleaner production methods. Air filters and air capture technologies offer promising solutions to combat air pollution and mitigate climate change. It is crucial for governments, industries, and individuals to work together to reduce emissions and improve air quality for a sustainable future.
