AYLAUNCH: Environment, Gender, Health, Peace

by | 09-04-2017 14:05

Advocacy, as I always say is encompassing. It is the environment, health, equality, religious pluralism. The blacks and the whites and all the grays in between. Yesterday, April 8, 2017, Davao City is again graced by such an amazing event for the youth. The "AYLAhi Day: Forum and Tour"  took 31 youth advocates of the environment, health, gender and peace in a day filled with advocacy story workshops and re-rooting with their common identity.

After a ceremonial toast to officially launch the ASEAN Youth Leaders Association Philippines chapter in Davao, the delegates went to an educational tour all around the biggest city in the Philippines.

The sites were strategically historical. Although they were divided by their respective advocacies, me serving as the facilitator for the environmental group, they were all one in the shared aspiration of connecting their advocacies with the teachings that they were getting in each of the sites.

The tour/advocacy story telling ended in the streets of Roxas wherein the delegates each made a stranger smile by giving out a letter to a random person filled with their thoughts of Davao and the things they've learned for the day.

All in all, although it was a day dedicated on launching an organization, it turned out to be hours of friendship, delight, new experiences, team work, cooperation and a day wherein although we were there for different things, we all share the same identity as residents of Davao, citizens of the Philippines and children of the Earth.

Event wouldn't be possible without Tunza Eco-Generation, Sangguniang Panlungsod, KJ, Chlo, Law, X, Ice, Hazel, Vic, Marti, Superman Kenny, Mr. and Mrs. Deligero, Board Room, Allah, Jesus, Buddha and the  rich culture, arts and diversity of Davao.
