Mudflat is taking a significant role in providing food for human living. Especially, the mudflat in the western coastal areas of South Korea has been chosen as the world’s top five mudflats with the eastern coast of Canada, the eastern coast of the United States, Germany's North Sea coast, and the mudflats of the Amazon River basin. This incredible ranking is from the enriched and diverse organism living in these mudflats. 

One animal that can be easily seen on the mudflat is the sea snail. As its name implies, this organism is very similar to the snails that you can see on the vegetables! They have their own hard and glossy shells. They usually ingest the other clams to make their flesh swell by wrapping them and making a hole in them to eat finally. 

For the other interesting animal, snapping shrimps have ferocious and aggressive claws that can even shatter the glass jar. This strength is shockwave which comes from their own muscle structure to keep massive energy instantly. With these claws, they hunt the prey in a swift moment even before those shrimps touch the target. On this marvelous feature, many scientists and researchers have been working to figure out the functions of these claws so far. 

Aside from these above animals, we can find many kinds of seafood we often eat on the mudflat! Small octopuses are precious and special seafood for Korean. They are a bit different from the octopuses with thick legs; the small octopuses have sensibly thinner and smaller bodies.

As above, creatures living in mudflats have a direct good influence on humans. In addition, since living organisms depend on their habitats, various creatures are bound to live in mudflats that have varied habitats. Furthermore, the coastal wetland ecosystem is located at the boundary where the sea and land meet, so the types of living things are more diverse because they can partially accommodate the creatures that make up the two distinct ecosystems. It is also suitable as a spawning ground or habitat for young creatures due to the richness of nutrients and salts flowing from the land and has lots of food and shelter. Thus, people's awareness of the particular "place" that helps preserve the ecosystem and continuous efforts for preservation are urgently needed.
