Environmentalist is a person who is concerned about protecting the environment. Majority of the people do not care or see the importance of protecting environment. Therefore, it is very rare to find a person who is suitable to have the dignity as ?environmentalist?.

My fellow ambassadors have presented lot more remarkable works of so many known admirable environmentalists. Hence, I want to disclose some information about an environmentalist who is providing a appreciable service to Sri Lankan society to enhance the value of environment and to lead the people, especially industries, towards sustainable development.

Dr. Sampath Wahala, an admirable environmentalist and a lecturer of EcoBusiness Management degree program in Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka has been putting a great effort towards environmental protection and enhancing ecosystem values.  As a lecturer of EcoBusiness Management, he has been providing precious service to the students and the society for nearly eight years and through the degree program he teaches students to integrate the environment and business activities in a sustainable manner.

He is the founder- president of Young Biologist Association, Sri Lanka which was formed with the aim of utilizing the youth?s leisure time for environmental awareness enhancement activities. Now lot of environment related activities are conducted by the Young Biologist Association, such as, environmental awareness programs for the public, training programs, etc.

He provided his service as a forest manager in Yagirala forest research, training and recreational center to manage and improve the forest reserve and to promote and marketing ecotourism.

Currently, he is engaging with more researches which help to enhance the environmental awareness and he is working in collaboration with industry people to integrate the industrial activities with the environment in a sustainable way.

The above are only a handful of information about this admirable environmentalist and the service, he has been providing to entire Sri Lankan society without hoping any benefit or popularity is immeasurable.
