We all know and mention in all our reports that global warming is the biggest environmental issue we are facing today so to reduce its effects we should work towards reducing it. Even recycling of paper reduces emissions of the greenhouse gases that cause global warming.

In my building when I noticed that people were carelessly throwing recyclable waste like paper, plastic, glass, cans and other recyclables with general waste in garbage chute without giving a thought of segregating it and minimizing it. I started campaign of collecting, segregating, depositing & upcycling of recyclable material few years ago and got huge response in my community.

I had collected tons of papers in past few months and deposited them in Bee?ah, EEG and school. Production of recycled paper does not require cutting down of trees means more trees are available for the absorption of carbon di oxide and in fact production of recycled paper requires less energy.

If paper is not recycled it ends up in landfills, decomposition of the paper in landfills produces methane, a greenhouse gas which is 23 times more potent than carbon dioxide. Methane is produced when materials such as paper decompose under the anaerobic conditions i.e without oxygen in the landfills. One ton of recycled office paper saves 4,100 Kwh of energy, 9 barrels of oil, 54 million Btu's of energy, 60 pounds of air pollutants from being released, 7,000 gallons of water, and 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space,a survey conducted by Stanford,have you ever imagined this so to reduce the strain on landfill sites we should recycle each and every bit of paper.

We all can make a difference on this planet by staring any movement of recycling or tree plantation or by raising awareness on reducing carbon emissions. We all should take pledge every day and make it an obligation to preserve and protect our Mother Earth.
