Good News For Animal Lovers!

by | 08-01-2017 03:26

Hi there! Firstly, a very Happy New Year to the Tunza community! I'm sorry about the delay caused as I had my Pre- boards going on. I have good news for animal lovers! The government of India has considered some bold moves for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

The Central Government of India is considering stringent norms for pet shops which only sell but also house domestic animals. The government is planning to make it compulsory for pet shop owners to register themselves with the local bodies.

The new rules, which have been proposed by the Union Ministry of environment, Forest and Climate Change also suggested that State Governments must for associations or societies for the prevention of cruelty to animals. The pet retailer will be required to have separate areas for specific species and maintain temperature according to the requirement of the species

The new rules framed beneath section 38 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 state that if any pet save needs to provide grooming services, it must mention it in the application for registration. Such grooming services would also require a license.

The new rules state that every dog will probably be micro-chipped by a veterinary practitioner, and each pet shop shall have a micro-chip reader within the premises. So as of now, each and every dog will be sold with a micro-chip.

The associations for prevention of cruelty would have the power to inspect any pet shop at any time and will have the right to check animals' living conditions and records, to ascertain whether the principles are being complied with.

This is, for sure, a welcome change, and I'm eagerly waiting for these laws to be implemented soon. We must be sympathetic towards other living beings around us and give them the dignity they rightfully deserve.
