Recycling is the process of converting waste materials into reusable materials and objects. It is an alternative to "conventional" waste disposal that can save material and help lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Recycling has several benefits that help people and improve the environment. Producing recycled materials often requires less energy than creating entirely new goods and can help conserve energy. For example, creating new paper from trees requires more energy than producing paper from recycled materials. Recycling also saves energy by reducing the need for transportation of raw materials from their place of origin, which also decreases greenhouse gas emissions and emissions from vehicles transporting these materials. The pollution created by factories and industrial plants during the production process often reduces as a result of recycling.

Keeping the numerous benefits of recycling in mind,I initiated a 'Neighbourhood Plastic Collection Campaign' in my building with the aim of collecting plastics from my neighbours with the help of the watchman and then submitting all the collections to Emirates Environmental Group,UAE for recycling.

I went door to door,explaining to people,especially the children and youth, the importance of recycling and the harm that plastic can do to the environment and health of the people,if not recycled.They co-operated very well with the campaign and gave for recycling all the plastic wastes which were accumulated in their houses.I also encouraged them to collect not just plastics,but paper and cans too, on a monthly basis, and submit them for recycling,as their little contribution towards the betterment of the planet.They promised to continue this noble activity of recycling in the future too.I also requested the watchman to keep track of all the recyclable waste generated by the residents of the building so that it can be given for recycling.

Finally,I introduced Eco Generation to the kids,distributed the promotional goods and encouraged them to join it.
