New hope for 2017by | 04-01-2017 13:52 |

Resources are classified as renewable and non- renewable resources. Either it is renewable or non- renewable, there is a scarcity of resources Even some renewable resources are not regenerating in a similar rate of speed that we consume resources. All the activities carried out by human beings are depending on the availability of resources. Not only that, most of the environmental problems such as, waste problem, increase of global warming due to over combustion of fossil fuel etc. are occurred due to the exploitation/ over consumption of resources. We have come to the end of the year 2016. Now it is the time to look back how much of burden we have put on the environment during this year (Simply, our ecological footprint). How much of food have we consumed and wasted during the year?, How much of water have we wasted unnecessarily?, How many clothes we buy during the year and what happened to the old ones after buying new clothes? Etc. All these things that we consumed/ wasted are resources which we extracted from the natural environment. Simply, the message I need to convey through this small article is, ?Let?s practice sustainable consumption patterns from 2017 and let?s reduce our ecological footprint than 2016?. The close knitted topic with sustainable consumption is sustainable production. As consumers we have a power to affect the production patterns of the industries. Every time, when we are going to buy something from the market, we need to choose goods which are having eco- labels. Then we can make sure that the goods we bought were produced in an environmentally friendly manner. In other way round, if you are a manufacturer you need to think about new product designing and development methods to reduce the life cycle environmental impacts of manufacturing goods. |
