For You Cisitu - Hydroponics and Vertical Garden Workshop

by | 19-12-2016 20:41

Halo !

It's been a while since my last post in Tunza Eco-Generation, though.

Well, today, I will share about our movement in Cisitu Lama (A place where we lived, here). So, on 4th December 2016, We were giving a workshop for Cisitu societies, about Hydroponics and Vertical Garden. First of all, the idea to hold this event was

  1. Cisitu Lama, as a living place for ITB students as well as the locals, only have few gardens. It's quite similar with Urban slum area, which is narrow and so dense. Almost have no green land at all.
  2. The locals have lots of "Wall" which can be planted vertical garden
  3. The locals already know about "Urban Farming", but they don't want to be "Full time" gardener, which needs a simple, yet effective method to realize this "Urban Farming" initiative

So, after surveying, we collaborate with "Green Education Bandung", as one of leading green platform in Bandung. We gave them the local societies condition, and they agreed to give Hydroponics and Vertical Garden workshops. Thanks to EL 99 as a full Donor for this project, we decided to give workshops with "Learning by doing" methods. So, we installed the Hydroponics first (see a figure below)

Yups, after doing publication with poster, inviting directly with the local communities, and giving invitation letter door to door to Cisitu Society, we did our project and achieved:

  1. Got 15 volunteers as the committees
  2. Got 20 participants from our dormitory
  3. Got 60 participants from the local societies
  4. Invited 5 neighborhood and 2 citizens association

Specifically, Green Education Bandung gave materials about Wick System Hydroponic, Semi-Hydroponic (for Vertical Garden), and Pipe System Hydroponic as well.
