THE UPSURGE OF THE GHOST RAINBOW

Firstly I am really ashamed of saying that this my second article since I've joined Tunza. So deepest apology from my side. I would really like you guys to go across this amazing news that I came across and I was seriously rubbing my eyes after seeing this. 'Is this real'? Those were my words after seeing wonderful image of the 'ghost rainbow'.

On Sunday 20th November 2016, while roaming around Rannoch Moor in the Scottish Highland, Photographer Melvin Nicholson came across this beautiful scenery of the 'Ghost Rainbow'. "It's an amazing thing to witness and can generally only be seen if the sun is behind you when you are looking at it," Melvin explained. "Freshly fallen snow set the scene all around. It was just beyond magical and one of those days that you'll remember for a long time to come," he added.

Ghost rainbows are also known as white rainbows or fog bow. Through research it was found that it appears by the refraction of sunlight through the water droplet in the air. The water droplets that appear are so tiny probably smaller than 0.0020 inches so the colors fail to appear except for the red outer edge and blue inner edge. The most evocative version of fog bow is the 'lunar fog bow' that appears when light from the moon refracts from spectral evening haze.

We except that ghost rainbow are rare but it's not that they do not appear at all. They appear but they are called with different names in relation with the context.

While doing some research I came to know that the ghost rainbow that appears while looking down on clouds from the aircraft are often called 'cloud bows' while the fog bows that are often encountered by sailors through eerie ocean mist are called 'sea dogs.'

Actually speaking I wasn't satisfied by savoring this wizardry of nature through this image. I myself wanted to be there and drench myself in this miracle of my mother earth but sadly I wasn't. I believe nature has more breathtaking views to reveal to we humans. We are ready to wait.
