![]() Hi friends! Today I'll be my review of the book Silent Spring by Rachel Carson. This book was published in 1962 but is still a groundbreaking and relevant book. This book was published in 1962 but is still a groundbreaking and relevant book today. Silent Spring presents a view of nature compromised by synthetic pesticides, especially DDT. Once these pesticides entered the biosphere, Carson argued, they not only killed bugs but also advanced into the food chain to threaten birds and fish population and could also sicken children. A great part of the information and contextual investigations that Carson drew from weren't new the researchers had known of these findings for quite a while, however Carson was the first to put it all together for the general public to draw stark and far- reaching conclusions. By doing so, Carson spawned a revolution. Silent Spring, which has sold more than two million copies since it was released, gave a strong message that if humankind poisons nature, nature would in turn poison humankind. This book, in a way, popularized modern ecology and has been credited with propelling the contemporary American environmental movement. It remains an example of a great book. It has surely earned a place in history and is a reminder to the world that lack of concern is risky and that all indiscriminate activities have consequences that must be considered very carefully.
